Watermelon Seed (citrullus vulgaris)

Watermelon is thought to have originated in the Kalahari Desert of Africa. The first recorded watermelon harvest occurred nearly 5,000 years ago in Egypt and is depicted in Egyptian hieroglyphics on walls of their ancient buildings. It is believed that watermelon spread throughout Europe via the Moors in the 13th century.

Watermelon extract is touted as being rich in vitamin C, amino acids and lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that’s great for sun-damaged skin. It’s also said to promote cell regeneration, moisturise, cleanse and exfoliate.

The rich composition of essential fatty acids contained in Watermelon Seed Oil also helps to restore elasticity to the skin. It is a wonderful addition to skin care formulations for all skin types, including dry, oily, acne-prone or maturing skin. Full of vitamins such as Vitamin A, B6 and C, watermelon is also packed with lycopene and amino acids, all combining to contribute towards healthy skin, aiding the immune system, while adding the benefits of powerful antioxidants. Arginine (an amino acid) is essential in our bodies and helps with blood circulation in the scalp.
