Wintergreen (gaultheria procumbens)

Gaultheria procumbens, also called the eastern teaberry, the checkerberry, the boxberry, or the American wintergreen.  It is a species of aultheria native to north eastern North America. It is a member of the Ericaceae (heath family).

Wintergreen is an herb. Wintergreen oil is made by steam processing of warmed, water-soaked wintergreen leaves.
