This bergaptene free (see caution below) Bergamot is derived from cold compression, as opposed to the steam distillation. The powerful, sweet aroma of bergamot oil makes it a popular component in many perfumes and blends, and it is often used as the “top note”.

Bergamot essential oil is considered to be a tonic, which means that it tones up the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, excretory, and nervous system, as well as the skin and muscles.

Bergamot is reputed to: promote and sooth the digestion (you can even rub it directly onto the stomach); eliminate bad odours; reduce fever; fight infections; kill worms; cleanse the mouth; reduce pain; reduce fever; assist with kidney and urinary tract infections; improve circulation; relieve depression; reduce nervous tension, anxiety and stress; relieve spasms, cramps and convulsions by relaxing nerves and muscles; relieve chronic coughing and respiratory conditions (anti-congestion, expectorant): and eliminate toxins.

Caution: Normally, Bergamot oil must be protected from sunlight, because bergaptene, one of its natural components becomes poisonous if exposed to sunlight. However, we always use Bergapten FREE Bergamot so that it is always “safe” for you to go out in the sun after using.
